Singapore is buzzing with activities this June, including the coming of the Box Office’s hit musical, The Lion King. Two international music bands, Air Supply and Boyce Avenue, are also visiting the Lion City to the delight of their young and old fans. Gastronomic dishes await food lovers at the Yummy Food Expo. And Garfield’s 40th birthday bash is where the young and those young at heart can find their piece of fun.

Artbox is dubbed as Singapore’s biggest pop-up creative market. Originally from Bangkok, Artbox was brought to Singapore to showcase the local flea market culture and talents. Last year’s inaugural edition was a smashing success and it is coming back for its second year with the promise of a better experience at a much bigger venue.

Over 400 vendors from different parts of Asia are expected to participate in. Visitors can feast on a wide selection of regional food and beverage favorites. Bargain hunters can scour through the abundant retail selections. The night market is made more unique with interactive elements and creative art installations. If you just want to hang out, you can relax in one of the chill out hammocks and listen to the live music.

Artbox Singapore 2018 is organized by Invade Industry, a subsidiary of iFashion Group. The company is known for organizing spaces for regular or seasonal retail markets and bazaars such as iLight Marina Bay’s festival markets.

StoryFest 2018 is an international storytelling festival held in Singapore for the second year in a row. The event features various performances with the following highlights: “Beowulf” by The Telling Theatre, “The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives” by Maimouna Jallow, and “The Illusion of Truth” by Mara Menzies.

Performances that are suitable for family audience include “Legend of the Nordic Gods” by Jesper la Cour Andersen of Denmark, Magic, “Mystery & Mayhem!” by Mara Menzies of Kenya, and “Story! Story! Story Come!” by Maimouna Jallow of Nairobi.

There are also workshops and master classes for aspiring storytellers. Free activities like Story Cloth Making and the Story House, which encourage story sharing, listening, and conversations, are just perfect for kids.

The legendary soft rock duo, Air Supply, is coming back to Singapore for a one-night performance on June 5th.

The lead vocalist Russell Hitchcock and singer-songwriter/guitarist Graham Russell met in 1975 as co-performers in the Australian production of “Jesus Christ Superstar”. They later formed Air Supply and went on to produce several hit songs that remain widely popular to these days. Their beloved hit singles include “Lost in Love”, “The One That You Love”, “Even the Nights are Better”, “Every Woman in the World”, and “Making Love Out of Nothing at All”.

For over 40 years, Air Supply has sold more than 20 million copies of their albums. Throughout their successful career, the duo won several awards including the American Music Award for Best Pop Rock Group in 1981. Air Supply was also recognized by Billboard Magazine as Most Successful Pop Group of the 1980’s. They were inducted to the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Hall of Fame in 2013.

Boyce Avenue returns to Singapore for an intimate show at the Star Theatre this June.

The three Manzano brothers, Alejandro (lead vocals, guitar, piano), Fabian (guitar, vocals), and Daniel (bass, percussion, vocals), have formed Boyce Avenue in 2004 and gained popularity by posting original renditions and song covers on YouTube. The YouTube channel now has more than 10 million subscribers and over 3.8 billion views, making them the most viewed independent band on the world.

The band last performed in Singapore in 2015 and will return to delight their fans with their original songs like “I’ll Be the One”, “Speed Limit”, and “Just Say Yes”. The trio is also known for their covers of popular songs like “Be Somebody”, “One Life”, “Yellow”, and “Find Me”.

Ultra is a major outdoor music festival that is held annually in over 20 countries around the world. The festival was founded in 1999 by Russell Faibisch and Alex Omes in Miami, Florida. From the USA, the festival expanded to other countries including Brazil, Argentina, Chile, South Korea, South Africa, Japan, Indonesia, Spain, Croatia, and Colombia.

The Ultra music festival was first held in Singapore for one night as Road to Ultra during the Formula One race weekend in 2015. Ultra returned in 2016 as a two-day music festival which is now known as Ultra Singapore.

Ultra Singapore 2018 features 3 stages: The Main Stage, the Live Stage, and the Resistance Stage, and the biggest names in EDM for adults aged 18 years old and older to enjoy a full 2-day party.

Super Rugby is a professional men’s rugby union football competition that is played by teams from Japan, Argentina, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. It started as Super Six, referring to the six teams that participated in 1986. It later expanded to Super 14 before becoming Super Rugby. The league currently has 15 teams. This year, Japan’s Mitsubishi Estate Company Limited (MEC) bagged the title sponsorship.
