10 Exciting Events in Singapore to Start The Year 2018 with

The first ever Transformers Run is happening in Singapore this January! The event is highlighted with a 5-km Fun Run of family-themed carnival that promises to bring a lot of fun to the whole family. The Transformers Run is organized by SouthWest Community Development Council (SWCDC) with the support of SG Cares and Community Chest. Proceeds from this event will go to charity.

The Grammy Award-winning band is returning to Singapore for a one-night only concert! The event is part of the band’s Evolve World Tour. Evolve is Imagine Dragon’s third album, which includes rising hits like “Whatever It Takes” and “Thunder”. Fans will also get to hear live rendition of the band’s smash hits such as “It’s Time”, “Believer”, and “Radioactive”.

The week-long SVBC event will culminate with a celebratory concert with the Vienna Boys Choir. The singing group is considered to be the youngest ambassadors of Vienna, serenading the world with their angelic voices. Singaporeans will get a chance to interact and learn from the Vienna Boys Choir during SVBC Week and hear them sing at the finale concert. The choir will be accompanied by the Kids’ Philharmonic Orchestra.

Pongal is a traditional Indian harvest festival that is also celebrated in Singapore. It is the farmers’ way of giving thanks to Surya, the Sun God and giver of life. During the festival, Little India becomes a hub of activities that celebrates Indian culture. Look out for bargains at the mini village along Campbell Lane or cultural performances and street light-up at Kinta Road.

Imagine a series of performances and art installations against the backdrop of Marina Bay. That’s what Let’s Walk is all about. It is a modern take on art and performance which was started by Singaporean artist, Amanda Heng. In 2018, Let’s Walk will be adopted as the theme for the M1 Singapore Fringe Festival. Amanda Heng will conduct a Walking Workshop with art and design students from different institutions. The public is free to join the walk which will begin at The Substation and end at Merlion Park.

Reigning US Masters champion, Sergio Garcia from Spain, and former Open champion, Louis Oosthuizen from South Africa, will be among the golf superstars who will compete in the US$1 million tournament.
