References are the frameworks through which we develop several different facets of our lives – ourselves, others, the past and the present. It is through the dictates of our referential frameworks that we are able to make meaning of and participate in personal, cultural and national discourses. This 12-hour mini marathon touches on ‘Inclusivity’, ‘Empowerment’, and ‘Sensing’ – all of which interrogate various points of references including memory, heritage, culture, and technology.

RawGround: Reference features original research, performances, and recordings by Akanksha Raja, Chia Poh Hian, Christoven Tan, Dominic Nah, Edward Tan, Lee Enjie, Matthew Goh, Melyn Chow, Stephanie Yoong and Timothy Tan.

STAR WARS Virtual Run 2020

The battle between the light and dark side of the Force is upon us! STAR WARS fans, prepare to choose your side and join the Force in Southeast Asia’s first ever STAR WARS Virtual Run. Registration is now open and participants can clock-in their run distance from June the 15th.

This year also marks the 40th Anniversary of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and runners will receive a commemorative Finisher Trophy upon completion of the virtual run. Limited edition merchandise will also be available for purchase.

In collaboration with LIV3LY, Southeast Asia’s leading Social Fitness App, the STAR WARS Virtual Run is open to fans and runners from Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. Runners can pledge their allegiance to the light or dark side and fight in the galaxy’s most epic virtual run on treadmills or any running path they choose.

Runners can opt to run solo in the 5.4km (Individual) or pair up with a friend in the 40km (Individual or Group of Two) where the distances can be completed all at once or over a period of time. Runners will have to complete the distance by 31 May 2020 in order to be eligible for the Finisher Trophies. 40km finishers will receive an additional The Empire Strikes Back 40th Anniversary Trophy. Registration can be done through the MOVE by LIV3LY app (available on the App Store and Google Play). Participants will have to activate the MOVE Run Tracker in the app before they are able to record their distances from 15 Jun – 30 Sep.

Income Eco Run 2020

Singapore’s favourite eco run is back! Held at the F1 Pit Building on 26 April 2020, Income Eco Run (IER) 2020 is now open for registration.

Building on past efforts to encourage a zero waste lifestyle, as well as to commemorate Income’s 50th Anniversary, new initiatives to reduce, reuse and recycle will be introduced at IER2020. These include printing of bib numbers on running singlets for selected categories and distribution of reusable bags made of breathable mesh for runners to hold their post-race replenishment of bananas and recovery drinks at the finish line.

Race categories at IER 2020 include the 10km individual or mixed team and a 21.1km Half Marathon challenges. Other categories include the Zero Waste 5km distance for participants 13 years and above, and two distances for children – 800m for those aged four to eight years old, and 1.2km for those aged nine to twelve years.

I Love Anisong 2019, one of the most-anticipated Japanese music events in the region, will see fans from Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Hong Kong and the rest of the world in Singapore. THE EXPERIENCE
As soon as you enter this slice of paradise, the workshop area will grab you right in. First, you begin by watching an excellent video projection to learn more about the orchids of Singapore. You’ll discover the ins and outs of the oil extraction process and how these gorgeous flowers turn into a therapeutic perfume.

Once you’ve watched the video, you will be invited to take a perfume personality test, specifically designed to help you curate your perfect scent. Once you’ve taken the test, your results will be distributed along with five scent categories: fresh, woody, citrus, floral, and oriental.

With these results, you can then begin to make your personalised perfume with the guidance of a knowledgeable employee. The finished product will be unique, one-of-a-kind, and ready to be worn on your skin or given as a special gift to a loved one.
