Vienna Boys Choir : Fly with Me
Imagine listening to one of the most beautiful and purest voices on earth: that of the Vienna Boys Choir. Join us as we welcome Austria’s youngest ambassadors of music in the beautiful and modern Esplanade Concert Hall.
The Vienna Boys Choir has been singing at Vienna’s Imperial Chapel since 1296. In 1498, Maximilian I (HRR) moved his court to Vienna, lock, stock, and choir, thus founding the “Hofmusikkapelle” (Chapel Imperial), and the Vienna Boys Choir. Over the centuries, the Viennese Court attracted great musicians like Isaac, de Monte, Fux, Caldara, Gluck, Salieri, Mozart, and Bruckner; Joseph Haydn, Michael Haydn, and Franz Schubert were themselves choir boys. Until 1918, the boys sang exclusively for the court. In the 1920s, the choir was reestablished as a private organisation. Since 1926, 2482 Vienna Boys Choir has sung 1000 tours in 97 different countries.
Today, there are 100 choristers between the ages of nine and fourteen, divided into four touring choirs. Each choir spends nine to eleven weeks of the academic year on tour. Together, the choirs give around 300 concerts each year, attended by almost half a million spectators around the world. The choir regularly tours Europe, Asia and Australia, and the Americas.
On Sundays, the boys perform with members of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and of the Vienna State Opera Chorus in Vienna’s Imperial Chapel, as they have done since 1498.
The choir’s repertoire includes everything from medieval to contemporary music. Motets and lieder form the core of the touring repertoire, as do the choir’s own arrangements of Viennese music. The choir also performs children’s operas and world music.
The Vienna Boys Choir performs with major orchestras, such as the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the Staatskapelle Berlin, the Oslo Philharmonic, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Riccardo Muti (honorary member of the Chapel Imperial), Andrés Orozco Estrada, Christian Thielemann, Simone Young.

Coming Together As One Through Art
“Coming Together As One Through Art” is a series of four pop-up art installations by the Singapore National Co-operative Federation (SNCF) to raise awareness about the societal issues of yesteryear that continue to exist today and to showcase the impact when people in the community band together for a common goal.
The first in this pop-up art installation series looks at the topic of money and the social issues related to it, such as moneylending and financial inclusion. Visitors can also find ‘instagrammable’ moments from the mirror room to the exterior façade.
Through imaginative art installations and audio stories, it aims to get people to ponder on this societal topic while discovering more about the history of one of the earliest community self-help organisations that emerged in Singapore – credit co-operatives, which were formed nearly a century ago to provide affordable financial solutions for the people and they continue to serve people’s needs today.
On weekends, there will also be fun activities including a lucky draw!

Answer for How to open a restaurant or cafe in Singapore
Here are the 3 most basic steps to open your own restaurant or café in Singapore, provided that you already completed your feasibility study and raised enough capital for your new business.
1. Incorporate your company
This is the first step in legitimizing your business. If you are a foreigner, you need to apply for an Entrepass with the Ministry of Manpower. Then, you need to get a Singpass that allows you to transact safely online with different government organizations. After acquiring your Singpass, go to the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authorities’ Bizfile online portal. This is where you register the name and type of your company. Name registration costs S$15 and business registration fee is S$50 – S$600 for locals or S$300 – S$1200 for foreigners, depending on the type of company.
2. Build your space
Once you have chosen the location for your new restaurant/cafe, it is time to design and build your business space. Finalizing your location is necessary before acquiring the Food Shop License because your restaurant will be inspected before the Food Shop License is granted.
You will need to secure the following documents/requirements during the building stage of your business:
- Planning Permission from Land Agencies
- Tenancy Agreement
- Compliance with the Code of Practice of Environmental Health (COPEH) from the National Environment Agency
3. Get the necessary licenses
After finishing building your business space, you need to get the following licenses or requirements in order to legally operate your restaurant in Singapore:
- Food Shop License – This is required for all food retail establishments in Singapore. Only apply after you have signed your tenancy agreement and completed the physical layout of your restaurant.
- Basic Food Hygiene Course – This course is necessary for all food handlers in Singapore.
- Liquor License – Apply for this license if you intend to sell liquor in your restaurant.
- License for Importing Food Ingredients – You will need this license if you are going to use ingredients that are sourced from outside of Singapore.
- Halal Certification – This certification is voluntary but advisable due to the sizeable Muslim population in Singapore.
- Central Provident Fund Registration – Employers need to register to this mandatory social security savings plan.
- Government Service Tax Registration – You can apply for this registration once you have reached an annual revenue of at least S$1 Million.
For a hassle-free application of necessary licenses, you can visit LicenceOne, a one-stop online portal for business licensing in Singapore. I have a friend who used this service when he opened his bar in Singapore and he highly recommends it.
Good luck on your new business!
