Answer for The most popular parks & gardens in Singapore
Singapore is not nicknamed “City in a Garden” for nothing! Here are the most popular parks and gardens in the Lion City:
Gardens by the Bay is the first thing that comes to mind when talking about gardens in Singapore. It is very popular because it can be enjoyed by kids and adults alike. It is also easily accessible from Marina Bay and by MRT through the Bayfront station. What I like most about Gardens by the Bay is that you don’t have to spend so much to enjoy the place. You can roam around the Supertree Grove and its surroundings without paying anything. For S$8, you can climb up the Skyway and get a good view of the gardens. A ticket for both Cloud Forest and Flower Dome costs S$28.
Another garden that I highly recommend you to visit is Singapore Botanic Gardens. Again, I love the fact that you can enjoy over 10,000 species of plants absolutely for free. The Singapore Botanic Gardens first opened in 1859 and you can learn more about its olden days through the free Heritage Tour which happens every 4th Saturday of the month. You only need to register 15 minutes before the start time. You can also explore the National Orchid Garden for a minimal fee of S$5. The botanic garden is located in Central Singapore and is serviced by Botanic Gardens MRT Station.
Then, Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, which is Singapore’s largest forest reserve and home to 40% of the nation’s local species of flora and fauna. Singapore’s highest hill, Bukit Timah Hill, is located within the reserve’s 163-heactre area. I have tried trekking up the hill and it is well worth the effort. I’ve even taken some selfies to show them on my FaceBook 😊 You can also go mountain biking or rock climbing if you’re up to it. Bukit Timah Nature Reserve is accessible by bus or MRT through the Beauty World Station. Admission is free.
MacRitchie Nature Trail & Reservoir Park is also popular among sports enthusiasts and nature lovers. This park is free for everyone to enjoy and it is brimming with activities like hiking, kayaking, and fishing. I haven’t tried the Treetop Walk but my friends swear by it. Maybe someday I will muster the courage to walk 25 metres above the trees through a 250-metre long suspension bridge. That is equivalent to a 7-storey building! You can visit this park by bus or MRT through Caldecott MRT Station.
Lastly, Fort Canning Park, the smallest park on this list but it is the most historically significant. It was once the home of Malay Kings and it also served as the headquarters of the Far East Command and British Army. Check out the underground Battle Box where Singapore was surrendered to the Japanese during World War II. I also recommend a visit to the bungalow of Sir Stamford Raffles and the Spice Garden. Entrance to Fort Canning Park is free and it is accessible by MRT through Fort Canning, Clarke Quay, and Dhoby Ghaut stations.

Answer for Best area to stay in Singapore for tourist
Singapore is a small city state that has a super-efficient public transportation system. Going from your hotel to a popular tourist spot won’t be a problem. However, there are certain areas that are recommended depending on your budget and preference.
My most preferred area to stay in is Chinatown because of the availability of affordable hotel choices. It is also within walking distance from Marina Bay and the Central Business District. Another plus is the presence of hawker food stalls that offer a wide variety of affordable food choices. After a heavy lunch, I try to burn off the calories by walking around, exploring the temples and street markets.
A short distance from Chinatown is Marina Bay, where most of the iconic Singapore landmarks are located. It has a beautiful view and is accessible to many shops and restaurants. Popular tourist attractions in the area include Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by the Bay, ArtScience Museum, Esplanade, Singapore Flyer, and Merlion Park. Staying here could be pricey so be prepared to spend a good amount for your room.
If you are on a tight budget, then you should stay at one of the hostels at Little India. My backpacker friends always stay here whenever they visit. The neighborhood shows a different aspect of the city and gives travelers a taste of India in Singapore. Don’t miss the bargains at the shops and make sure to get a taste of authentic Indian cuisine.
Sentosa is recommended for families on vacation. Universal Studios, S.E.A. Aquarium, Adventure Cove Waterpark, Trick Eye Museum, and Skyline Luge are all located here so there is no lack of fun and family-friendly activities to choose from. Accommodation at the island is a bit on the higher end. Beach lovers will love the beachfront, resort-type hotels here.
If you love to shop and you have the money to spend, then Orchard Road is the choice for you. This 2-kilometre shopper’s paradise is lined with malls, luxury brand shops and 5-star hotels. Ngee Ann City, Paragon, and ION Orchard are just some of the top shopping malls located along Orchard Road. You can take a breather from shopping by visiting the Istana Heritage Gallery at Istana Park or the Singapore Botanic Gardens located beyond the western end of Orchard Road.

Answer for Fun Free Activities
I had the chance to visit Singapore earlier this year and here are some of the free things that I enjoyed during my visit.
On the top of my list is Gardens by the Bay.

While the domed attractions require an entrance fee, you can explore the Super Tree Grove with absolutely no cost. The Skywalk also costs some money but I was content with staying under the shade of the Super Trees and taking selfies with the beautiful surroundings. You can stay until evening to catch the spectacularly lit Super Trees during the Garden Rhapsody.
Another free attraction in Singapore is the Botanic Gardens, which I like most.

You can easily spend the whole day in this lush greenery with abundant wildlife. You can also find here the National Orchid Garden which costs a mere SGD5 for adults. Children under 12 years old can get in for free. Not bad for a chance to see over 1,000 species of Singapore’s national flower. You might even chance upon the regular free concert of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra!
If window shopping is your thing, you can take a leisurely stroll along Orchard Road.

This shopping street is dubbed as Asia’s most famous and stretches for over 2 kilometres. You can find almost anything here: shopping malls, restaurants, hotels, art galleries and more! Don’t worry, the line of huge angsana trees and the pedestrian mall will keep you covered from the scorching Singapore sun.
If you are a health buff like me, you can take an afternoon jog or walk around Marina Bay.

Singapore’s popular landmarks are located here so you can make a few stops and take a photo. You can start from the Esplanade and walk towards the grandstand, cross Helix Bridge, pass by Arts and Science Museum and Marina Bay Sands, and head towards One Fullerton. Your last stop will be at Merlion Park where you can take your Instagram photo with the Merlion Statue!
Another one of my favorite free activities in Singapore is watching the sunset from the Esplanade Roof Terrace. No words can describe the breathtaking view as you watch the sky change colors while the Singapore skyline lights up and transforms before your eyes!
From the Esplanade, you can take a short walk towards the Event Plaza along the Promenade to watch the amazing light and water show called Spectra.

It runs for 15 minutes every night at 8PM. This show is a wonderful display of modern technology that will dazzle you with a colorful symphony of lights, water, and music.

Of course, the fastest way is by plane. It takes about an hour to get from Changi Airport to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). If you are on a budget, you can opt for the following budget airlines that fly the Singapore to Kuala Lumpur route and vice versa.

Answer for foreigner buy property
Yes, foreigners can buy property in Singapore, but with certain restrictions.
Only Singapore nationals and permanent residents can avail of the subsidized housing by the Housing & Development Board (HBD).
HDB flats are government-subsidized housing units that are sold by the Housing & Development Board to the public under a 99-year lease agreement. Buyers can also avail of resale flats that are sold by previous owners that have met the Minimum Occupation Period. Prices of resale flats are not regulated by HBD.
Foreigners can own private apartment or condominium units as much as they can afford. There is no limit in the quantity of private apartments and condominiums that a foreigner can buy.
A condominium, also known as condo, is a residential unit that is within a building or a complex of buildings. Each condo unit is individually owned but unit owners share common areas within the building or complex like recreational facilities and laundry room. It is much like an apartment building except units are owned outright and not rented.
Permanent residents can buy a subsidized executive condominium, also known as semi-privatized executive condominium, 5 years after the building is completed. Foreigners can buy the same after 10 years.
Government approval is needed for foreigners to own landed residential properties like terrace houses and bungalows. The foreigner applicant must have an adequate economic contribution to Singapore. Interested foreigners may apply through the Singapore Land Authority.
There are no restrictions for foreigners who want to buy commercial properties in Singapore. These commercial properties include shops, offices, hotels, warehouses, factories, and shopping malls.

Answer for Top News Sites
When talking about news websites in Singapore, The Straits Times is definitely on the top of my list. I make sure to check it every morning while drinking my coffee to be updated with the latest stories in Singapore and the world. The website is the digital edition of the daily broadsheet. A paid subscription is required to access all sections of the site. However, you can read selected free content including podcasts which should be enough if you only want to read the major stories.
Another news website which I check regularly is Channel News Asia. This is the website of the Asian TV news channel that is based in Singapore. I like that the website is free. I also like the livestream which is helpful when I’m on the go and don’t have access to a TV set.
I also regularly visit Today online through its mobile app. For me, it functions better than the other Singapore news apps. The website and the app are both free, just like its print version which we see at MRT stations during our daily morning commute.
AsiaOne is also a popular news and lifestyle site that is owned by Singapore Press Holdings. I visit the site at least once a week for a different perspective on top news stories. The website is free and you can subscribe if you want the news to be delivered to your e-mail inbox. Just close the pop-up ads on the site if you find them annoying.
Mothership.sg is considered as an alternative news website. I personally don’t visit it as much as the other news sites but some of my friends are loyal readers. Mothership.sg also has a mobile app which is used by majority of its readers including me.
Fratini La Trattoria
MENU: Fratini La Trattoria doesn’t have menu! As we mentioned, the restaurant offers dishes according to ingredient freshness and availability. Their commonly served dishes are Rome-Style Grilled Scallops with Carbonara Crust, and Beef Roulade and Truffled Pappardelle Creamy Pasta. And to put the cherry on-top of a splendid Italian meal, they offer delicious classic Tiramisu cakes.
AVERAGE PRICE/PAX
- $45-$50++ for lunch
- $90$++ for dinner
AMBIENCE: Fratini La Trattoria is a classic Italian restaurant, with wooden panel floors, simple colors and sleek yet comfortable seating areas. There is minimal decoration, so you’re not distracted from the main event – the food! Fratini La Trattoria is ideal for a wine-and-dine style dinner, or a celebratory lunch for that special occasion.
Answer for Tipping in Singapore
Tipping is not customary in Singapore. You don’t need to worry about paying tip for using any services in Singapore.
However, there may be times that you want to reward a waiter or bellhop for providing excellent service.
TIPPING NOTES
Most restaurants in Singapore add a 10% service charge to the bill so a tip is not expected. If you insist on tipping your waiter, it is best to hand the cash directly to the person as some restaurants take the tips that are left on the table.
Tipping bellhops at hotels is not compulsory but acceptable. SGD1-2 per bag is reasonable.
Taxi drivers do not expect a tip. If you give them extra, they will automatically give back your change.
